Ex-WReN, Lea Rogers,
was trained in cake baking and decorating at the prestigious Mary
Ford School in Poole, Dorset, when she left the Royal Navy in 1990
to have the first of her two children, and has been making unique,
high quality celebration cakes ever since.
Lea's designs and
inspiration come in no small part from her extensive travels -
having taken a year out to travel around the world with her partner
and two children.
"Countries
like Australia and New Zealand lead the way in fresh,
contemporary wedding cake design" Lea says.
Lea opened her
studio in Bowness - named after her
daughter, Beaulea - to satisfy the ever-growing demand for quality
wedding cakes in one of the country's most popular wedding
destinations.
Lea's reputation for design and quality has grown and grown, and she
is now well known at all the major wedding venues in the South Lakes
and beyond. Her cakes have become more and more sought after and
her reputation was given a boost when Renee Zellwegger (aka
Bridget Jones) came to the Lake District to film "Miss Potter".
Lea was chosen by the production company to provide Ms Zellwegger's
150-portion, Banana-flavoured Birthday cake, which - she is assured
- the slender Hollywood star enjoyed a good helping of! |
